Continue to Create even in Uncertainty

How to continue to create even in uncertainty

Sometimes my brain likes to make up rules in order to prohibit my creativity. It can go something like this:

You can only paint that painting if your entire room is clean. You can only do that photoshoot once you get paid todo it. You can only start writing that script once you have total peace and quite and live by yourself in a cozy cabin in the middle of nowhere.

I think this is procrastination pretending to be “responsible”

When I catch my brain doing this, I remind myself that my best work comes from heighten emotions that I transmute through creating. In simple terms, if I feel the urge to create then I must create.

I am currently staying with my family in an extremely small town, living a completely different lifestyle than what I am used to. I have no idea where I am going to go next. The only thing I do know, is that I have to continue to create no matter what. There will never be the “perfect” environment to create in.

The photoshoot I recently did called “Walling in Red” was born from everything I have just discussed. I had just purchased a new camera so I asked my cousin if she would be up for a photoshoot. She agreed, and I quickly came up with a concept.

She had dyed this fabric deep red the other day for a sewing project she is working on. I asked her to bring this fabric because I had this feeling that we must use it in the photoshoot. I also brought a golden mirror that was my mom’s, a beautiful candle holder, and a candle.

We went out to this vast field by the house and all the elements came together. The contract between the red fabric and bright blue sky was exquisite. The feeling I had was affirmed.

Please continue to create no matter where you are in your life. Making art is essential for your soul.
